If you deconstruct Greece, in the end, you’ll find that what remains is an olive tree, a vineyard and a ship. Which means: with just these, you can rebuild it.

Production Area
The winemaking process is a magical journey from vineyard to glass. It begins with the selection of the finest grapes, carefully harvested and transformed into juice. Each grape is cultivated with care, and every harvest ripens patiently, absorbing the flavor of the earth and the aroma of the sun. Then, the must ferments in barrels, where nature and time work together to create unique tastes and aromas. Controlled fermentation temperatures, constant efforts to highlight the characteristics of each grape variety and vineyard through separate vinifications, and continuous monitoring are just some of the steps taken during winemaking that reflect our love and attention to the wines we produce. Every stage, from harvest to aging, carries art and tradition, ultimately revealing a wine that tells the story of its land and invites moments of enjoyment.

Cellar
A special feature of the estate is the introduction to the world of wine. Visitors tour the cellar, guided by experienced and specialized staff and learn about the wine-making process. The oak barrels and collections of vintage wine artifacts are impressive, offering a unique experience.

Vineyards - Cultivated Varieties
In the heart of Lesvos, in the vineyards of Karionas and Megalochori, Oinoforos creates fine wines that highlight the rich heritage and unique identity of the island. With deep knowledge of the art of viticulture and respect for the land, grape varieties are cultivated with passion and care, embodying the authenticity and diversity of the Lesvian vineyard.
The Oinoforos vineyards host exceptional Greek varieties such as Assyrtiko, Athiri, Mandilaria, Fokiano and Vapsa. Each grape expresses its unique character, and through modern winemaking methods, as well as traditional techniques, wines combine authenticity with innovation.

Wine Labels
The winery embodies the tradition and art of winemaking through five exceptional labels that highlight the authenticity and quality of the local grape varieties of Lesvos.

The wine’s label is adorned with a peacock, symbolizing beauty and elegance. Makara carries a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI).
